The Communication Research Institute (CRI) is a finalist within the category of Research as part of the inaugural International Institute for Information Design (IIID) Awards competition. The winners will be announced at the 2011 IDA Congress in Taipei, Taiwan on October 25th.

One of the hardest and most stressful things about getting insurance, applying for loans, or setting up any new account, are the documents: forms, bills, and policies which are endless, confusing, and hard to read. Convoluted chapters on policy, complicated layouts and too much information in baffling jargon are just some of the things people find difficult to make sense of. This means most people don't read their documents properly which can lead to them getting the wrong insurance, or paying more for a service than they intended and, consequently, a whole lot of frustration, confusion and misinformation.

Board of Governors' meeting

CRI's Board of Governors meeting was held on November 23rd 2010 and, after a few years of ups and downs, it looks as though the Institute is getting back on its feet with new life being breathed into old projects, as well as some exciting new ventures in the works.

Over the last week we moved our research library, archives, testing, and seminar facilities to a new location in Carlton—an old inner city suburb of Melbourne, renown for coffee shops, Italian restaurants, and, of course, many world leading research centres.
